How we score

Every readiness percentage in IDXDIAG is deterministic. It is calculated from benchmark ratios, not written by the AI. The AI only explains the numbers. It never computes them. Here is exactly how the 0 to 100 percent comes together.

Component weighting

Each component is scored as (your capability ÷ the required capability) × 100, then combined into an overall readiness with these weights:

A component with no stated requirement is excluded and its weight redistributed across the others. A missing requirement is never treated as a free 100% pass.

The bottleneck

The single lowest scoring weighted component is flagged as the bottleneck, the part holding the machine back. It is read from the same calculation that produces the percentage, so the two never disagree. If a build is short, the bottleneck tells you which part to change.

CPU and GPU benchmarks

CPUs and GPUs are compared on a PassMark style scale (CPU Mark and G3D Mark, approximate and hand curated) so any two parts can be compared even when their marketing names differ. Tap any percentage on a verdict to see the exact benchmark math behind it.

Laptop and mobile chips

A laptop GPU or CPU is not its desktop namesake. An RTX 3060 Laptop performs well below a desktop RTX 3060, and the gap varies widely per chip. We detect mobile parts and score them against real per chip laptop benchmarks. Where a verified laptop number is not available yet, we estimate from the desktop score and label it plainly as an estimate.

Unverified requirements

When a title's requirements are not confirmed from a trusted source, IDXDIAG shows them as a clearly labeled estimate and never computes a readiness score against unofficial numbers. A score is only produced against verified requirements.

Hard fail rules

Two situations cap the overall at 45% and flip the verdict to "Cannot run", no matter how strong the rest of the machine is:

  • OS incompatible. For example a Windows 7 or 8 machine against a Windows 10 or newer requirement.
  • Not enough free storage. The largest free drive is smaller than the install size.
Your DxDiag is processed in memory and never stored. Scores are estimates to guide a buying or upgrade decision. Real world performance varies with drivers, settings, and background load.
