Setting and environment

Players spend their time in an anime styled world, moving through one continuous open world. The view is from a third person view. That openness is what costs performance. Tales of Arise has no loading walls to hide behind, so terrain and detail keep flowing in as the player moves. The publisher supplies 10 storefront screenshots of these environments.

Why Tales of Arise is demanding

Tales of Arise is undemanding on the graphics side. Its GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 390 target sits well below our RTX 3060 reference, so most cards still in service clear Tales of Arise. A 64 bit version of Windows is required. The distance between minimum and recommended is wide, so Tales of Arise at the floor and Tales of Arise at the recommended tier are not the same experience. Tales of Arise needs only 8 GB of RAM. The install is small at roughly 45 GB.

This reading comes from the published requirements and our own benchmark tables, not from the store listing.

Can you run Tales of Arise?

100%
Can run iton a typical modern PC (Ryzen 5 5600, RTX 3060, 16 GB RAM), the graphics card is the tightest fit.

Older hardware holds up here: Tales of Arise runs on modest graphics, with GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7950 enough to meet the minimum. Add 8 GB of RAM and a mid-range CPU and a PC several years old will play it fine.

Bottleneck: GPU

Projected by resolution

ResolutionProjectionHeadroom
1080pComfortable2.18x
1440pRuns well1.23x
4KBelow the bar0.54x

A projection, not a measurement. We scale the published GPU requirement by pixel count, since 1440p draws 1.78 times the pixels of 1080p and 4K draws 4 times as many, then compare against RTX 3060 / Ryzen 5 build. The publisher did not state a target resolution, so 1080p is assumed as the baseline. We hold no frame rate data, so no FPS figure is claimed. Headroom above 1 means the reference machine has room to spare at that resolution.
