Can I Run Pathway?
Released in 2019, Pathway is an adventure indie game built by Robotality. Publishing duties went to Chucklefish. It offers a single player campaign. It is not Windows only, with macOS and Linux covered too. Being 7 years old, it was built for the hardware of its day, so a current machine usually has headroom over the published figures. With more than 1 thousand player reviews on Steam, its behaviour on real hardware is well documented. A gamepad works without remapping, since controller support is complete. Completionists have 75 achievements to work through. Saves sync through Steam Cloud, so moving between machines does not cost progress. It is localised into 5 languages according to the store listing. Its Metacritic score stands at 68.

Setting and environment
Players spend their time in an outbreak scenario, moving through spaces built for exploration. That openness is what costs performance. Pathway has no loading walls to hide behind, so terrain and detail keep flowing in as the player moves. It is played in two dimensions. There are 12 official screenshots to judge the look from.
Why Pathway is demanding
Pathway makes almost no demand of the graphics card. Nearly any machine built in the last decade clears the stated NVIDIA Geforce 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series, OpenGL 3.3 target. System memory expectations are modest at 8 GB. Pathway takes about 2 GB of disk space. A 64 bit version of Windows is required.
This reading comes from the published requirements and our own benchmark tables, not from the store listing.
Can you run Pathway?
Pathway is light on hardware. Its minimum, Intel HD4000 or better, OpenGL 3.3, 8 GB RAM, about 2 GB free, sits below what an entry-level PC ships with today, so nearly any modern machine, and many older ones, will run it.
Bottleneck: RAM
Projected by resolution
| Resolution | Projection | Headroom |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | Comfortable | 48.57x |
| 1440p | Comfortable | 27.32x |
| 4K | Comfortable | 12.14x |
A projection, not a measurement. We scale the published GPU requirement by pixel count, since 1440p draws 1.78 times the pixels of 1080p and 4K draws 4 times as many, then compare against RTX 3060 / Ryzen 5 build. The publisher did not state a target resolution, so 1080p is assumed as the baseline. We hold no frame rate data, so no FPS figure is claimed. Headroom above 1 means the reference machine has room to spare at that resolution.
