Can I Run Generation Zero®?
Released in 2019, Generation Zero® is an action adventure game built by Systemic Reaction™. Publishing duties went to Avalanche Studios. The game supports a single player campaign and cooperative play. It carries 72 achievements. 8 languages are covered by the store listing. Progress follows the account through Steam Cloud rather than sitting on one disk. Its Steam review count passes 28 thousand, a large enough sample that odd hardware behaviour would be known by now. Windows is the only supported platform, which is what the figures below describe. Only some of the game is mapped to a controller. Its 7 years mean the stated figures describe machines that were current then, not now.

Setting and environment
The game is set in a world after its collapse. Play is structured around one continuous open world. There are 10 official screenshots to judge the look from. Open environments are the harder case for a PC, and Generation Zero® has to keep far more of its world resident and streaming than a level based game needs.
Why Generation Zero® is demanding
Generation Zero® is undemanding on the graphics side. Its nVidia GTX 960 / R9 280 target sits well below our RTX 3060 reference, so most cards still in service clear Generation Zero®. Video memory is not the constraint here, at 4 GB. Disk footprint is light, near 35 GB. Its 16 GB RAM requirement matches what a typical machine already has. A 64 bit version of Windows is required.
This reading comes from the published requirements and our own benchmark tables, not from the store listing.
Can you run Generation Zero®?
Generation Zero® targets a mainstream modern PC: nVidia GTX 660 / ATI HD7870 - 2GB VRAM / Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics 580 and 8 GB of RAM for the minimum, stepping up to nVidia GTX 960 / R9 280 - 4GB VRAM for the recommended experience. No single part dominates the requirements, so a balanced mid-range build clears it.
Bottleneck: GPU
Projected by resolution
| Resolution | Projection | Headroom |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | Comfortable | 3.15x |
| 1440p | Comfortable | 1.77x |
| 4K | Below the bar | 0.79x |
A projection, not a measurement. We scale the published GPU requirement by pixel count, since 1440p draws 1.78 times the pixels of 1080p and 4K draws 4 times as many, then compare against RTX 3060 / Ryzen 5 build. The publisher did not state a target resolution, so 1080p is assumed as the baseline. We hold no frame rate data, so no FPS figure is claimed. Headroom above 1 means the reference machine has room to spare at that resolution.

Each card is compared against Generation Zero®'s published GPU requirement, assuming an otherwise-capable PC. Laptop rows use the real mobile chip's benchmark, a mobile GPU is always slower than its desktop namesake.
