Can I Run Dying Light 2?

Dying Light 2 is an action adventure game from Techland, released in 2022. Techland both developed and published it. It offers a single player campaign and cooperative play. Completionists have 65 achievements to work through. It handles controllers properly rather than leaving the player to bind buttons by hand. Steam lists support for 17 languages. Over 162 thousand players have left a Steam review, so this is a title whose performance is widely reported. An age check at 18 sits in front of the store page. It is a Windows title, so the requirements below are the Windows ones. Cloud saves are enabled.

Setting and environment

Dying Light 2 places its action in an outbreak scenario, and the player works through one continuous open world. The publisher supplies 10 storefront screenshots of these environments. Open environments are the harder case for a PC, and Dying Light 2 has to keep far more of its world resident and streaming than a level based game needs. It is played from a first person view.

Why Dying Light 2 is demanding

Dying Light 2 sits in the middle of the demand range, targeting NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, a tier a mainstream card from the last few generations reaches without difficulty. At only 6 GB of VRAM, memory capacity is not what limits Dying Light 2. The chip itself is. Dying Light 2 takes about 60 GB of disk space. Dying Light 2 expects 16 GB of system memory. The distance between minimum and recommended is wide, so Dying Light 2 at the floor and Dying Light 2 at the recommended tier are not the same experience.

This reading comes from the published requirements and our own benchmark tables, not from the store listing.

Can you run Dying Light 2?

100%
Can run iton a typical modern PC (Ryzen 5 5600, RTX 3060, 16 GB RAM), the graphics card is the tightest fit.

Older hardware holds up here: Dying Light 2 runs on modest graphics, with NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon™ RX 560 (4GB VRAM) enough to meet the minimum. Add 8 GB of RAM and a mid-range CPU and a PC several years old will play it fine.

Bottleneck: GPU

Projected by resolution

ResolutionProjectionHeadroom
1080pRuns well1.36x
1440pBelow the bar0.77x
4KBelow the bar0.34x

A projection, not a measurement. We scale the published GPU requirement by pixel count, since 1440p draws 1.78 times the pixels of 1080p and 4K draws 4 times as many, then compare against RTX 3060 / Ryzen 5 build. The publisher did not state a target resolution, so 1080p is assumed as the baseline. We hold no frame rate data, so no FPS figure is claimed. Headroom above 1 means the reference machine has room to spare at that resolution.

Each card is compared against Dying Light 2's published GPU requirement, assuming an otherwise-capable PC. Laptop rows use the real mobile chip's benchmark, a mobile GPU is always slower than its desktop namesake.
